In the late nineties there were many planned expansions to add extra gaming possibilities to the world of Valon. One of these was 'Hearts of Oaque'. It was, in the main, a set of rules using 1/1200th models to resolve ship-to-ship combat, before moving to regular Flintloque scale miniatures for the boarding actions. The rules themselves were finished in 1996 and actually publically playtested at a games show in the West Midlands in 1997. However, as with many of the planned expansions for Flintloque things fundamentally changed due to a change in management and sadly the official 'Hearts of Oaque' game was forgotten. However, not one to let a good idea go to waste Steve Blease re-wrote the background sections, setting the rules in Panzerfauste's 'The Land' and published them as Strange Tydes. The rules are currently available direct from Wessex Games 'Strange Tydes' website. These rules can easily be adapted for use with the ships of Valon and you can use Flintloque or Frontear to handle Boarding actions with 28mm miniatures. If 1/1200th scale battles aren't to your taste and you want to recreate smaller naval skirmishes Danny O'Hara's excellent Rowloque rules allow players to play out sea battles with full size 28mm scale ships. He also put pen to paper summarizing the various Valonian navies. For those who like things to be a little more official in 2004 Alternative Armies released 'Trafalgore', a free supplement which provided some background and rules allowing players to field Albion Marines and Officers of King Gorge's Royale Navye in both Flintloque Reloaded and Slaughterloo. The supplement can be found below. They also released five packs of miniatures to support the rules. All of which excellently portray Albion's roll in Valon's Age of Sail, they are available direct from Alternative Armies website.
