"It'll take more than that small keg to shift this bugger, Major. This is solid stone. It must be hundreds of years old. It took three kegs to deal with that poxy bridge over the Tagus and even the bugger didn't fall down, we had to hold the bloody Elves off for hours whilst your boys put more powder down."
"Rekhardt, Rekhardt, my dear boy," beamed Major Wogan, "that was one of my lads, this is me. The thing is not the amount used but rather where it’s placed. Now I admit that this is well built but what Elves can build, even if they 've been dead for over two thousand years, Orcs can destroy. "

This scenario presents a typical small skirmish as the vanguard of one force attempts to secure a strategic bridge before the rear guard of another force can blow it up. The forces presented can easily be changed so long as the attacker maintains a distinct superiority over the defender. The defender must delay the attacker not defeat them in a fight. Terrain is simple requiring a bridge; a river; a road; two or three houses and some bushes. The number of bushes should be carefully judged to allow a small amount of cover without hampering the cavalry. The river is not fordable, although it may be swum as an improbable action, failure indicates the character is swept away and drowned.

2nd Squad 3rd Company 49th Foot (South Mordor)
As Major Sim-San Grog, you have been asked to assist Major Wogan in destroying an old stone bridge. If this bridge is destroyed, then the Ferach Scum will have to travel days up river to the nearest bridge all owing the remains of the Albion army to slip away to? where your navy awaits. You have never actually seen combat before but are sure that it will not be that different from a good hunt. As a result you are classed as regular/raw. A great believer in discipline and order, your Orcs are required to wear full dress at all times, including stocks and act in a soldierly manner. You may not split your forces or move out of formation. You have to supply some forces to Major Wogan to assist him but would rather not. You would prefer not to have to rely on Goblins, but as a favour to Wheeling-Turn, you have a platoon in attendance. You do not trust them to perform under fire and regard them as expendable.
You win if at the end of the scenario you are alive.
If the bridge is blown even better and if your Orcs leave the area in formation even better. You start the scenario anywhere on the board you like.

As the scenario starts, the bridge, an ancient stone affair, has had 750 emplacement points of work done on it.

2nd Squad 5th Cacadores
As Captain Whistle you have been assigned to assist in the rearguard against the overwhelming Ferach forces. If this bridge can be blown then the tired force of Orcs and Goblins which has struck a hard blow against the Elvish tyranny can be saved, if not then cavalry will start picking off the rear guard and the infantry cannot be far behind. You hate cavalry. Your own are arrogant enough, but, compared to these Elves, they are nothing. The Orcs of the South Mordor seem solid and reliable, but you have your doubts about Major Sim-San - after all, he rides a horse. Your Goblins are exhausted from the hard campaigning but willing to give their all.
You win if the bridge is blown. If over half your Goblins are across the bridge when it blows that is better and if you can bring down the cavalry that is even better.
You start the scenario anywhere on the board you like.

Sergeant Raw/Regular (Everyone thinks he is the best shot)

La Spiga's Guerrillas
As La Spiga you have been asked by Wheeling Turn to assist Major Wogan in the rearguard against the overwhelming Ferach forces. If this bridge can be blown, then the tired force of Orcs and Goblins which has struck a hard blow against the Elvish tyranny can be saved. If not, then cavalry will start picking off the rear guard and the infantry cannot be far behind. You hate the Ferach with an undying passion, especially cavalry. The Orcs of the South Mordor seem solid and reliable, but you have your doubts about Major Sim-San - after all, he rides a horse. Your Elves are exhausted from the hard campaigning but willing to give their all.
You win if the bridge is blown. If over half your Elves are across the bridge when it blows that is better and if you can bring down the cavalry that is even better.

Corps Imperial des Dragoons
As Colonel Cui de Carcharoth you are leading the vanguard attempting to crush these impudent Orcs who have penetrated deep into Catalucia. The accursed partisans will already have melted away into the mountains, but the regular Albion forces must be heading for a rendezvous with ships on the coast. Ahead of you is the small village of Hasta La Vista completely unremarkable except for the bridge. This bridge built years ago by Ferach ingenuity, if not hands, is the only crossing for four leagues in either direction. If you do not secure it then these Orcs will be able to escape and that you cannot allow. I f you only had your own infantry and artillery it would be an easy job, but the Command Staff has provided you with Voltigeurs. The staff has also asked you to capture or kill any engineers.
You win by securing the bridge. If you can kill more Orcs than the Voltigeurs that's better, Goblins are beneath your dignity, and if you can capture Major Wogan alive, then that would be best of all.

1st Squad 2nd Platoon 4th Voltigeurs
As Captain Toulouse Yor Cherrie you have been sent with the Corps Imperial des Dragoons to secure this bridge. Your troops have just received a draft and as a result your section has an amazing twenty Elves in it. You have been stung by Colonel Carcharoth's superior manner and have vowed that you will secure the bridge. After all, taking and holding is a job for infantry, parading about is what the cavalry do best, although these do look like a tough lot it must be said. Having faced the Cacadores before, you have a healthy respect for them and have an urge to get a souvenir from one of them.
You win by one of your Elves being the first across the bridge. If the bridge is intact that's better and the quality of the souvenir you retrieve will determine just how pleased you are.
